What can you find on the new Nextgenlearning.org?

Website overhauls can be lengthy processes full of bumps in the road, but enhancing content, usability, and design boils down to one critical focus: your audience. In our case, you.

We kept you in mind every step of redesigning nextgenlearning.org, and now that the new NGLC site has launched, we’re excited to give you a quick tour.

We’re hoping you like what you see, and invite you to share your feedback with us directly by email.

Are you interested in a grant from NGLC? Here is where you can get information about open or upcoming grant opportunities. You can also get a sense of the types of projects we fund and learn about next gen learning from the experts:  grant recipients from North Carolina to California who are now shaping the future of education in K-12 classrooms, university labs, online, and any time, any place, any path, any pace that learning happens.

Some cool new features in this section:

  • You can now explore different grant types (such as Breakthrough Models, Tech Innovation) using our Funding Framework grid.
  • A new, interactive map allows you to locate innovators in your neck of the woods.
  • You can read up on different grant recipients and link to their websites and social media pages to connect with their work directly.
  • You can see the latest updates from our Regional Funds for Breakthrough Schools pilot sites in Chicago and Washington, DC.

We’re betting on their success: so far, we’ve invested close to $56 million in promising innovators from across the U.S.

Next Generation Topics

Interested in learning more about the current landscape of learning, instruction, and assessment? Look no further: NGLC’s Topics section was designed with your needs in mind, covering Learning & Assessment, Models & Systems, and Next Gen Strategies.

Here, you can sort through the latest trends and technologies in emerging areas most relevant to you—from gaming and design thinking to competency-based learning and high school to college pathways—we identified resources and lists of grant recipients focused on each of these emerging topics so they are here for you to use.

Breakthrough Models

Welcome, education visionaries.

This section of NGLC’s website pulls together all that NGLC has to offer on Breakthrough Models—entirely new or substantially transformed schools or degree programs, designed around each student to produce breakthrough changes in student learning, high school graduation, and college completion. These are created to support all learners, including low-income students and students of color.

Discover promising practices, see what a breakthrough school or degree program looks like, and become inspired through videos, case studies, grant recipient profiles, and more.  You can also learn more about the Breakthrough Models Incubator, an intensive professional development program that brings together top college and university leadership teams to catalyze major change.

Think of this section as your one-stop shop for all things next gen learning. Here, you’ll be able to get your hands on a variety of useful information: toolkits to support blended learning, caselets outlining how others built breakthrough models, and the latest communications from the field.

Best of all, the collective knowledge of fellow innovators from across the U.S. is right here, at your fingertips through the Next Gen Learning Library (hosted by EDUCAUSE). This allows anyone to sift, sort, and filter through a wealth of publications and multimedia so that you can find exactly what you need, when you need it.

In the spirit of personalized learning, we hope you use this quick tour to dig in at your own pace to get the information and resources that are most useful to you.
