Describe your project: We need to collaborate with a technology group to create a robust online environment for this wonderful program. We have writing tools, games, and projects in development to add to our core service of giving unique attention to each student’s work. Students respond enthusiastically to personal guidance from the professional community. Teachers report a significant increase in their time to individually conference with students, adding needed depth to an effective writing program.

Describe your organization: We are a charter school for students who are interested in a medical career. We will open next year for ninth and tenth grade students.
Describe your project: In ninth and tenth grade the students will be taught the foundation for a medical career including but not limited to: medical terminology, personal health and wellness, computer applications for the health care industry, and the first of three career counseling opportunities. In 2013 we will add an eleventh grade. In eleventh grade the students will focus on teamwork and communication skills for the healthcare industry and medical abbreviations and coding. They will have their second career counseling even which will be a job shadowing opportunity. Finally, in 2014 we will add a twelfth grade. In twelfth grade the students will chose their career. We will have two tracks, a technical and a college bound track. The technical track students will learn a career and become certified in that career through our facility and partnering sites. Those students will graduate high school and go directly into the workforce. The college bound students will have an opportunity to earn college credits; as well as take general medicine, an introduction to the MCAT, and an introduction to internship. The introduction for internship course will allow our students to go into the field and do a mini internship with hands on activities to prepare them for medical school. This will be in addition to their High School education and diploma.
