New Designs for School
New Designs for School

We’ve all had the experience of truly purposeful, authentic learning and know how valuable it is. Educators are taking the best of what we know about learning, student support, effective instruction, and interpersonal skill-building to completely reimagine schools so that students experience that kind of purposeful learning all day, every day.

Hallmark Feature: A nimble model that adapts for all students across the learning spectrum

  • Students in this new district school will choose among a variety of pathways to create their own personalized graduation roadmap: face-to-face coursework at the high school or a college partner, online coursework and digital content, and expanded learning opportunities (ELO) built on inquiry-based projects.
  • Pathway options will be mapped to a set of core competencies, and students will make progress through their curriculum by demonstrating mastery in each course or learning experience.
  • Although the pathways may vary and there are no grade levels, the outcomes for students are clearly articulated: grit aptitudes, Common Core State Standards, 21st century skills, and early college experiences.
  • A small team of full-time Lead Teachers will deliver courses at the high school, supported by a large team of adjunct faculty and staff, including certified instructors, tutors, visiting experts, and support staff. The school will partner with the Highlander Institute to back its next gen staffing approach.
