Wave II Challenges

 

Wave II:  Building Blocks for College Readiness

 
NGLC announced a second wave of funding in January 2011 focused on a single, integrated challenge comprised of two interdependent elements:  next generation approaches to learning content, and next generation assessments. Applicants were asked to describe their plans to develop and refine learning modules for 7th-9th grade core content, with a clear identification of how such modules might fit into larger learning sequences and capture Common Core standards-based performance data.

After receiving more than 230 initial applications, NGLC announced final winners in June 2011. Read more about the winning projects on the NGLC Wave II Winners page.
 

Does your proposal target learners in the United States needing to master the content and competencies associated with 7th-9th grade Common Core State Standards in math and literacy? Or, does it target U.S. students enrolled in summer school between their 8th and 9th grades?
Does your proposal represent an existing solution? (For proposals in the proof of concept category, solutions must have an existing user base of at least 50 students. For early stage adoption, the existing user base must be at least 1,000 students. Existing solutions are those that have already been designed but may be applying for funding to support further piloting and testing.)
Are you prepared to further deploy your solution during the 2011-2012 academic year or the summer of 2011?
